Using the File Manager

SiteRocket’s file manager lets you manage all of your website’s uploaded files in one central place. These files are usually organized into folders on the web server – similar to the folders on your computer – to help you locate and manage them easily.

SiteRocket's File Manager

After clicking the File Manager tab, you’ll see all of the folders in the left panel. Click a folder, and the files inside that folder will appear in the right panel of the page.

Here's how to perform some common file management operations:

  • To rename a file or folder, you can either double-click the file name or right-click it once and choose the "Rename" option from the menu. Type the desired name and click the "Enter" key on your keyboard, or the “Esc” key to cancel.
  • To upload one or more files to a folder, click the folder in the left panel and click the “Add Files” button.
  • To create a new folder, click the "New Folder" button and enter its name.
  • You can create folders inside other folders. To do this, click a folder in the left panel. This folder should be the one that you want to add the new folder to. Then click the "New Folder" button, enter its name, and click "Enter."
  • If your File Manager contains images in JPG, PNG or GIF format, you can see a preview of these by choosing “Thumbnails” from the “View” dropdown menu. This is located near the top right of the right right panel.

Why don’t I see the file I’m looking for?
SiteRocket shows only the first 25 files inside any folder by default. If a folder contains many files, click the arrows near the bottom right corner of the right panel to go to the next page of files.

Why are some buttons disabled?
If you are unable to use some of the functions in the File Manager, you probably lack the necessary permissions. Please contact your website administrator for help.
